I started to look around communities with open source code available. These are focused around things which I enjoy spending my time doing at the moment. For example, I have a keen interest in contributing to a modding community (in gaming). Also, I would like to work on some 3rd party tools that help members of a community.
After some research, I decided on two possible projects:
Stargate Network Mod – Minecraft

Above is a mod created for Minecraft. It aims to add functionality from the Stargate series into the game. Specifically, the means to transport the player from one area to another through the use of Stargates.
DeedPlanner – Wurm Online

DeedPlanner is a 3rd party tool created for the game Wurm Online, which is an MMO. The game is majorly locked down, but users have adopted strategic gameplay methods. In example, DeedPlanner enables one to export the map from the game, and then modify it to create plans for new builds.
